Christian Schattenmann

Christian Schattenmann is in charge of the energy access activities at Bamboo Capital Partners. Specializing in off-grid energy investments, he led multiple equity and debt transactions in energy access companies. For more than 20 years, he was directly involved – both on the buy and sell-side – in structuring and implementing a wide range of financing instruments.

As Bamboo’s Head of Energy Access, Christian develops investment strategies, manages investment teams and oversees the investment process from deal sourcing to portfolio management and exits of several off-grid energy funds, ranging from commercial private equity funds to sector development funds which include results-based financing (RBF) grant programs to develop energy access markets. Christian is actively involved in business development, including the design of new fund strategies and fundraising from private and public investors.

Christian has over a decade of experience as a board member of energy access companies from pico-solar product companies to Pay-as-you-go solar distributors, mini-grid or Autonomous Generation (C&I) project developers. He supported portfolio companies from startup stage to becoming large profitable companies with several thousand employees reaching USD 200 million revenue.

Before joining Bamboo Capital Partners in 2007, Christian worked as CFO at PACT, a German-based Semiconductor Company. Prior to that, he was Investment Manager at the Venture Capital Group Pari Capital. Previously Christian worked for an international law firm and a non-profit organization in Central America.

A lawyer by training, Christian also holds an MBA and is fluent in German, French, English, and Spanish.
