Fabian Blank

Fabian is a passionate healthcare entrepreneur with operational leadership experience in both healthcare services and digital health. He leverages his familiarity with technology and disruption to advance healthcare service delivery. Having worked in 20+ countries -the wide majority of which in major emerging markets- he takes a global view to business. He successfully sold a business to private equity and has been a serial founder and early stage investor in (digital) healthcare. As such, Fabian combines deep operational understanding of healthcare services with an investment- and exit-oriented perspective.

Fabian current business activities focus on disruptive, technologically-enabled startups that seek to innovate healthcare provisioning (e.g., in digital rehab, therapy, care, or mental health). In parallel, he is an independent senior management advisor to private and public corporations. He serves, e.g., healthcare providers, device manufacturers, or payors looking at opportunities in healthcare and the digital space.

Prior to this, he was CEO and co-owner of a family-owned group of rehab clinics focused on orthopedics, internal medicine and cardiology. He grew utilization, revenues and EBITDA in a highly competitive market setting, and eventually sold the business to a leading private equity investor.

Before that, Fabian was a partner with McKinsey & Company, a leading global strategic advisory firm. He focused on growth topics in both telecoms and healthcare, and drove McKinsey’s thinking on the disruptive intersection of the two: digital health. In the course of his 13 years at McKinsey, Fabian led projects across Africa, Asia, and Europe. He spent about 2/3 of his activities time serving clients in India, South East Asia, and Southern/ Western Africa. Fabian is passionate about driving growth in high growth market settings – and well aware of the challenges such endeavors imply and the means to address those.

Fabian holds a business degree (Diplom Kaufmann) from HHL-Leipzig Graduate School of Management. He studied at University of Trier, Boston University’s School of Management, and ESADE in Barcelona.

He is fluent in English and German, is reactivating his French and works to improve his Spanish.
